William F. Mulroy, MD

Dr. William F. Mulroy is the founder of Boston Knee and Shoulder. Dr. Mulroy is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and knee problems. He is recognized in Massachusetts as a leading surgeon with expertise in work-related shoulder and knee injuries and has had exceptional surgical outcomes for this patient population. He is also nationally and internationally recognized for his work in knee and hip reconstruction.

Dr. Mulroy is a native of Boston and has benefited from the finest education and training in the world. His medical training began in California at Stanford University where he received a Bachelor of Science in pre-medical studies. He then returned to Boston to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree at Tufts University. This was followed by General Surgery training in Santa Barbara, California, and then back to Boston for Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center, the New England Baptist Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospitals. He was awarded the prestigious William H. Harris Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital for specialty training in the reconstruction of the adult Knee and Hip.

In addition to a world-class, formal education, Dr. Mulroy’s experience has been enriched by a family tradition of Orthopaedic Surgery. His father and uncle were Orthopaedic surgeons. He has two brothers and a cousin who are Orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr. Mulroy has published and presented scientific papers and lectured to Orthopaedic Surgeons locally, nationally, and internationally on topics of knee and hip reconstruction. He has been a team physician to both college and high school athletes as well as having treated numerous professional athletes.
